For which is easier, to say
'Your sins are forgiven'
or to say 'Rise and walk'?

Jewish convert to Catholicism, blogging about Catholic, Jewish, and secular topics. Actually, I am MANY TIMES blessed! Once a Jew, always a Jew. L'CHAYIM!!! TO LIFE--- from conception to natural death.

ReplyDeleteThis is another stunner from our Lord. Did anyone think like that before? But now: the difficulty of saying "Rise and Walk": is it more difficult to say that to the cripple or to the diversity of stiff-necked humankind in behalf of the unborn? I am probably what Walker Percy would have called a bad Catholic--not terribly knowledgeable in the faith, but a servant who hears God's call right now loudest & clearest on the topic of abortion. Here there is suffering untold, which is why I turn to you: the Jews are the world's experts on suffering, so I long for their greater presence and leadership in the pro-life cause. What do you think I could do, as captain of the next 40 Days for Life campaign in Sacramento, to broaden our faith base so that people of other religious experience and traditions can enrich and strengthen our effort? For this next campaign I would be grateful for the modest accomplishment of changing the public perception that this is not just a bunch of crazy Catholics, but rather a bunch of crazy Catholics & other Christians & Jews & Moslems & ... But, as salvation is from the Jews, I am seeking the advice of one: is this an area of special concern to you, or to whom can I turn, whom can you put me on to on this question, even if discussions lead not to anything tangible but only to a little bit of enlightenment for me.
Blessings upon you,
Julian
